A cast iron air valve is a type of valve used in pipelines to release or admit air during the filling or draining of the system, as well as to release air that accumulates while the system is in operation. These valves are commonly used in water supply and wastewater systems to prevent air pockets, which can reduce the efficiency of the system and cause damage to pipes and equipment. Cast iron is used for the construction of the valve body due to its strength and durability. The valve is designed to automatically open and close in response to changes in pressure, allowing air to be vented or admitted as needed to maintain the proper functioning of the system.
